Presenting Z Space's 2024 Artist-in-Residence Austin Dean Ashford in the San Francisco debut of an innovative solo work! Ashford’s dynamic and profound genre-bending work runs the gamut from theater, original songs, ukulele playing, spoken word, and rap. His work has won awards from the Kennedy Center, The San Diego International Fringe Festival, the New Zealand International Fringe Festival and more. (I)sland T(rap)—The Epic Remixology of the Odyssey, it tells its story through theater, lyrical poetry and live music. At once joyful and serious—this work charts Black Ulysses’ soul journey on an exotic island that leads to self-discovery. Performed in rep during February with Black Book, another of Ashford's solo works.
