Description
“A play that captures the absurdity of tech’s existential hand-wringing while the world burns”— The Guardian,
Brooklyn Center for Theater Research and a group of San Francisco-based artists are bringing Matthew Gasda’s new OpenAI-inspired drama DOOMERS–which follows the unraveling of a tech company as its leaders clash over ambition, ethics, and the dangerous pursuit of Artificial General Intelligence–to life.
DOOMERS is Glengarry Glen Ross for the AI age. The new play chronicles AI company MindMesh ousting its possibly sociopathic CEO Seth. While the first act documents Seth and his acolytes preparing for war, the second act presents the debates among the MindMesh Board: the backstabbers, ethicists, and "AI doomers" who booted Seth from his own company.
DOOMERS exposes both Seth and his antagonists’ human flaws amid looming catastrophe and asks the question: in humanity’s last act, who plays God?
Special events: March 6th 7pm Pay What You Will Preview (separate ticket link)
March 8th 7pm Opening Night followed by Panel Discussion with the playwright, members of the artistic team, and Bay Area tech professionals.
