Description
On September 11, 2001, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland. Overnight, the town’s population nearly doubled. With the world in shock, the people of Gander opened their homes, schools, and hearts to the stranded travelers—offering meals, shelter, music, and a place to begin making sense of the unimaginable.
Based on the remarkable true story, Come From Away follows the islanders and the “come from aways” as they find humor, kindness, and unexpected connection in the days that follow. Its propulsive folk-rock score, colored by Celtic influences, carries a story full of warmth, wit, and humanity.
Revival Hall is a gathering place, and that makes it a fitting home for this story of a community welcoming strangers as family. Our immersive staging brings the actors and musicians into close conversation with the room. The cast transforms in full view, moving between the people of Gander and the travelers they welcomed, while the live band fuels the storytelling. This production has its own shape, rhythm, and relationship with the space—an intimate, actor-musician interpretation created for Revival Hall. Come share the room, the music, and the story of what can happen when people show up for one another. Come From Away is presented in special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
Accessibility: Orchestra seating includes seats on the stage floor and on risers. Balcony seating is accessible by stairs only; Revival Hall is exploring options for elevator access. Please contact the box office with questions about seating or access needs.
Getting to Revival Hall: Revival Hall is about a 10-minute walk from MacArthur BART. Street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is limited, so please allow extra time and consider taking transit, carpooling, or using a rideshare.
