Description
With synth-pop music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik, book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, "American Psycho" is based on the infamous novel by Bret Easton Ellis and the 2000 cult film starring Christian Bale, a dark horror comedy set in the yuppie culture of the 1980s. Our unreliable narrator, Patrick Bateman, is a product of the disease of consumerism...a Wall Street businessman who has everything that society reveres: wealth, sophistication, and culture. The only problem is his growing hatred of the world, making his violent rampages throughout New York City more frequent, and less discreet. Despite the violence and absolute lack of character and human compassion...why does society justify his behavior? HOW far can status and appearance take us?
