Director of the classic film, Frankenstein, James Whale is spending his retirement away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Will James find peace from his torment, or will his inner monster beguile him to deeper depths?

We are casting the roles of:

CLAYTON BOONE — African American male, late 20s. A handsome, troubled gardener who forms a bond with Whale, but is bothered by Whale’s homosexuality. Clay is a former marine from a broken family and a complicated past. Scene 17 of the script contains rear nudity. Please refer to the script prior to the audition. An intimacy director will be on staff throughout the rehearsal process to ensure a safe, collaborative, and professional working environment. No nudity or simulated intimacy will be requested at the audition.

MARIA RAMIREZ — Latina woman, early 50s. Whale’s long-time housekeeper. She cares deeply about him but is a devout Christian and disapproves of his homosexuality. Actor also does the voice-over for Sarah Whale and briefly plays actress, Elsa Lanchester.

DAVID LEWIS — Caucasian male, early 50s. Whale’s former lover. A semi-closeted Hollywood Producer. Actor also plays William Whale, James Whale’s father, actor Ernest Thesiger, Dr. Payne, Fritz the tailor, and the voice-over of Carl Laemmles, a film producer.

EDMUND KAY — Caucasian male, early 20s. A film student desperate to get into the movie business. He interviews Whale and later gets a job with George Cukor. Actor also plays Jack Warner, Colin Clive, Leonard Barnett, and young James Whale.
