How to submit scripts : Submissions for SNAP Festival
Town Hall Theatre Company is seeking full-length, never-produced plays from playwrights living in the 9 Bay Area counties for a workshop/performance opportunity. These works should be in the latter stages of the creation process.
Town Hall Theatre Company's SNAP (Spotlight on New American Plays) Festival is especially interested in giving opportunities to playwrights who are creating work that has been historically under-produced.
Playwrights receive a $500 stipend.
The purpose of the SNAP Festival is to highlight new works from local playwrights and aid them in script development, rather than producing a full production. Selected plays that meet the following criteria will receive 3 public staged readings that will be given a week of rehearsal (see below). Each performance will include a talkback guided by a dramaturg or other facilitator to get constructive audience feedback for future revisions of the work.
Criteria
90-min or less preferred
Ideally up to 4 actors (character doubling is acceptable)
Must never have been publicly produced (Zoom readings or staged readings okay)
Playwrights must currently live in Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, or Solano Counties
Particular consideration will be given to playwrights from historically disenfranchised backgrounds, although all playwrights are welcome to submit
Particular consideration will be given to plays that address current, relevant topics to our community (i.e. the Lamorinda community and/or larger Bay Area community)
Plays that are in the final stages of the creation process, but are still being revised or worked on, are preferred
Please only submit 1 play per playwright
