About the panelists:

Sara Matsui-Colby is an experienced actor, voice-over artist,  audiobook narrator and emerging director with over a decade in entertainment. A SAG-AFTRA and AEA member with a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Earlham College, Sara has narrated over 24 titles on Audible and has collaborated with Penguin Random House,  Hachette, etc. Nominated for a Voice Arts Award, she’s also an Audio Publisher’s Association DEI mentor for new narrators. Slater Penney has won an Emmy, appeared on TEDx, and successfully toured locally and internationally. He graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Theatre Arts, trained at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, and is an Actor-Creator of ensemble physical theatre. Notable devised production companies include the Submarine Show, Naked Empire Bouffon Company, California Revels, Bay Area Children’s Theatre, Kinetic Arts Productions, and Lunatique Fantastique. Slater continues to teach at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, and has eyes on the rest of the world.

Rinabeth Apostol is an award-winning actor, director and educator. She often lends her voice to commercials, video games and children’s toys; and most recently to Sirius XM/Marvel’s Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Podcast as Gretchen Campbell. She has guest starred in roles on Showtime, ABC/Disney, Nickelodeon and MTV,  several independent films and as one of only two actors who provided stunt and Motion Capture work on Marvel’s Midnight Suns video game. She has appeared in many new works onstage at American Conservatory Theater, Actors Theater of Louisville, Seattle Rep, TheatreWorks, California Shakespeare Theatre, The Magic, Arizona Theater Company, East West Players, Skirball Center for the Arts, and Berkeley Rep Ground Floor, among others. 2024 productions include the world premieres of GOD WILL DO THE REST (Artists at Play/Latino American Theatre Company), THE NEWLYWED GAME (B Street Theatre) and MY HOME ON THE MOON (SF Playhouse); CRY IT OUT (Capital Stage), BALD SISTERS (San Jose Stage), HAMLET (Marin Shakes), LITTLE BROWN GIRL (her solo show, Williamsburg + Long Beach) and SOUTH PACIFIC (Billings Symphony). She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity, Ferocious Lotus and PlayGround.

Valerie Weak (she/her) was recently seen in The Tempest at San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. Favorite roles include Officer Miller in The Box at Z Space and Rosemary in Picnic at Ross Valley Players (BATCC Award, Best Production). Valerie has appeared in many indie films and played Mrs. Miller in 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. She trained at Skidmore College with Anne Bogart/SITI company in New York and holds a Theatre Arts BA from UCLA. www.valerieweak.com
